catch-up, the second

For Christmas dinner this year, I decided to do a table runner instead of the usual centrepieces. So, I experimented with colours and textures and arranged the finished product on a length of plain brown butcher paper, curved around white pillar candles of various sizes (and a lone pomegranate!)

I mostly used greens, with some silver and blue as accents. The candles were short enough to make conversation (and, more importantly, the passing of food platters!) easy, and adding rosemary turned out to be a (completely un-premeditated) stroke of genius — instant seasoning for turkey and stuffing!

And the butcher paper? Looks good AND catches spills 😉
